Mobile Ordering Active (and Easy!) + Changes on Horizon for AP Program

6/3/2018 7:58:54 PM

We got to try out the new Mobile Ordering service at Disneyland yesterday. We have always liked this feature in Walt Disney World, so it was fun to try it on our "home" turf!  It's very easy to do.  While in line for Splash Mountain, we simply went on the Disneyland app, logged in, and found the Hungry Bear restaurant on the map as a "nearby" choice.   We selected what we wanted and went on to pay, where our credit card was already stored from previous activity.  It automatically took off our discount, which it does for Cast Members and Annual Passholders - super cool!  We selected a time window we thought appropriate. When we got off the ride, we simply walked over to the Hungry Bear, clicked "I'm Here" on the Disneyland app, and within minutes our food was ready at the Mobile Ordering section of the pick up counter (shown in photo on news page).  Super convenient and a great time saver!  Less time in line for food = more time to relax and enjoy the parks/Resort!  Definitely recommend checking it out!

In other news yesterday, Disneyland has announced some changes for their Annual Pass program.  Beginning in June 2019, passes will have different levels of blockout days - some days blocked out entirely (as is current practice), and some days where only Disneyland is blocked out, meaning AP's can go into DCA but not Disneyland.  This is all being done in anticipation of the huge unprecedented crowds that are expected to flood Disneyland when Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge opens next summer.  The changes only impact passholders renewing in June 2018 or later (old passes have old rules), and the block out dates are now posted through June 2019 so you can review them before making your renewal decision.  Cast Member Main Entrance Passes already have these restrictions, with access on some days to DCA but not Disneyland Park.  You can check out more on the Disneyland AP page for your level of pass.  We wouldn't be surprised to see more changes like this down the pike as they prepare for Galaxy's Edge's grand opening early next summer.
